The African manatee has been under pressure for decades due to hunting and habitat loss, but a Cameroonian biologist is working to improve the freshwater animal’s chances. Senegal is moving ahead with plans to put more of its own identity on key streets and has begun renaming landmarks named after French colonial figures.
