Frustrating! Gautam Gambhir brutally slammed for not giving Sarfaraz Khan, Abhimanyu Iswaran a chance

Former India wicketkeeper Saba Karim has slammed Gautam Gambhir and the Indian team management for not giving Sarfaraz Khan a shot in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy Sarfaraz Khan and Abhimanyu Easwaran.

Karim feels that Sarfaraz and Iswaran have played a fair amount of domestic cricket and are ready for Test cricket. Both players were selected in the Indian squad for the Test match against Australia but neither played in the match.

While Sarfaraz has made his debut in India, Iswaran is yet to play an international match. With Rohit Sharma missing the first Test, Easwaran is expected to make his debut before the series. However, the Indian team management chose KL Rahul as opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Gautam Gambhir slammed by Sabah Karim for not giving Sarfaraz Khan, Abhimanyu Iswaran a chance

In an interview with Sportstar, Sabah Karim was disappointed with the way the Indian team management, headed by Gautam Gambhir, treated Sarfaraz Khan and Abhimanyu Iswaran. He believes these players have performed well both in domestic cricket and the Indian A-League and deserve to play Test cricket.

“It’s very frustrating because a person is ready to face countless challenges but it’s out of their control. That’s how I see it. I strongly believe that domestic cricketers need to be rewarded,” said Karim explain.

“Here we are not just talking about domestic cricketers but also players who have performed well for India A in the past, which means they have been tested multiple times and that is why you consider them as part of the Test team, ” he added.

Saba Karim slams electors

Saba Karim further slammed the selectors for selecting the players despite not believing them to be good enough. He accused the selectors of making judgments without giving proper opportunities to these players.

“Logically, it makes sense to give them a chance whenever you get one. I find it strange that these two cricketers who are part of the franchise were not even considered for selection. If that is the case, then why did you choose them in the first place What?” argued the former India wicketkeeper.

“If you’re not sure whether their technical expertise will perform well in Australia, then you should choose someone else. I feel strongly that without trying them in these conditions, how can we be sure that they are not good enough for these conditions? ?” he asked.

KL Rahul was picked over Abhimanyu Easwaran due to his previous experience playing in Australia, while India opted for young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy in place of Sarfaraz Khan. Reddy emerged as one of the debutants of the series, shining with the bat and playing some great knocks under pressure.

“Treat Abhimanyu and Sarfaraz Harshly” – Saba Karim

Saba Karim said that this selection decision was quite harsh for Abhimanyu Iswaran and Sarfaraz Khan. He reminded the selectors of Sarfaraz’s brilliant hundred under pressure against New Zealand in Bengaluru.

“It’s harsh on Abhimanyu (Iswaran) and Sarfaraz (Khan). Sarfaraz played two Test matches before reaching his hundred in Bengaluru, apart from Rishabh Pant ( Apart from Rishabh Pant, the rest of the team is struggling,” Karim explained.

“After that, he played two Test matches, both of which were rank-turners. Forget Sarfaraz, no other Indian batsman scored. So, keeping that in mind, I don’t understand the decision ,” he added.

Both Sarfaraz Khan and Abhimanyu Easwaran have scored a lot in first-class cricket and are regulars in the Indian A-League. Sarfaraz scored 4593 runs in 54 games at an average of 65.61, including 16 centuries and 14 fifties.

Sarfaraz Khan played 6 Tests and scored 371 runs at an average of 37.10. On the other hand, Abhimanyu Easwaran has scored 7674 runs in 101 games at an average of 48.87 with 27 centuries and 29 fifties.
