David Moyes has agreed to return to Everton as manager following the departure of Sean Dyche.
Dyche was sacked on Thursday, three hours before the Toffees’ FA Cup third round win over Peterborough, having won just one of his last 11 games for Everton. , leaving Everton just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.
Moyes, 61, will now return to management after leaving West Ham United at the end of last season for his second spell in charge of Everton after 11 and a half years away from Manchester United.
Analysis: Moyes is Everton’s safest option
Alan Myers, Sky Sports News:
“David Moyes is the safest option. The risk of changing managers in this position is high. Having someone who knows the club inside out and can hit the ground running is a big advantage.”
“Everton need security from the club and I think he can do that. The initial aim is to ensure Everton retain their Premier League status before moving to a new stadium.
“Things have changed since Moyes last played for Everton. Now he will be working under what the outside world may consider to be a ruthless boss. It’s not the same stability as he had when Bill Kenwright was chairman ”

Is bringing Moyes back the right move for Everton?
This game on Sky Sports:
They say there is no room for emotion in football.
However, Dyche has been on loan for some time and the club Moyes is returning to is very different to the one he left in 2013.
It will be seen as an emotional return, but it cannot be a sentimental return. Seamus Coleman was moved by the moment he told Leighton Baines, a team-mate from Moyes’ first spell in charge, to “applaud” before the game against Peterborough after his name was read out. struck people’s heartstrings.
After a chaotic day, it was a moment to savor two of Everton’s great players who will become key sounding boards for Moyes, especially in the first few weeks back at Finch Farm.
Moyes will recognize a few faces at the training ground and among the catering staff, but aside from a fervent fan base, there will be little that bears resemblance to the fabric he was etched into more than a decade ago 11 years ago.
From Angry Birds to Bernard. From parting with 8 permanent managers to 777 partners. From Ronald Koeman’s three No. 10s in one summer to Farhad Moshiri’s string of millions wasted since the man who created “The People’s Club” with “The Chosen One” Everton fans have been struggling since he left Manchester United to replace Sir Alex Ferguson.
Comparing the Everton side he took over in March 2002 to the one he is set to take over now, the 61-year-old is confident of proving his doubters wrong yet again. He may not be considered the ‘project manager’ of a long-term arrangement, but Moyes is worth far more than six months of rekindled romance.
“He has gray hair, but we don’t care…”
Eight permanent managers have tried to emulate Moyes’ achievements at Everton, but ultimately failed. In a game where feelings are lost, the person themselves should have a chance to guide them out of the situation.
