Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian national cricket team, will face some serious questions from the BCCI after the team’s poor performance during his tenure as coach. According to Danik Jagran, it was learned that the BCCI will hold a review meeting at its headquarters in Mumbai today.

India beat Bangladesh 2-0 in the Test series but then suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to New Zealand, their first home series defeat in 12 years. After this, they suffered a heavy defeat by the Australian national cricket team 3-1 in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Gambhir’s decision to play two spinners regardless of the green pitch in Sydney may also be called into question following leaks from the dressing room. The report also added that the BCCI was dissatisfied with the losses in the Sri Lanka tour, the home match against New Zealand and the Australia tour.

The governing body wants answers from head coach Gambhir and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar. However, the BCCI is against taking some big decisions, especially the upcoming T20I and ODI series, followed by the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be held next month.

The report adds that Gambhir and his supporters will not be sacked for now as the BCCI’s main focus is the 2025 International Champions Trophy. The meeting will also discuss team selection for the England series as well as the Eight Nations Championship.

It is reported that Suryakumar Yadav will continue as T20I captain while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s positions in ODIs are safe. However, discussions will take place regarding their place in the Test.
