Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur should dust themselves off after their midweek win over Liverpool on Sunday – which sees them travel to fifth-tier Tamworth in the FA Cup.
One of Spurs’ most measured and controlled performances of the season led Liverpool to a 1-0 win on Wednesday night, and next month’s draw at Anfield will see them in March Carabao Cup final
with a central table Premier League Currently projected finish, this season is all about the Cup for the Lilywhites. He has the ability to compete on multiple fronts down the stretch with his injury issues easing in February. For Sunday’s cup tie, however, Postecoglou is working with the same well-rounded group of players.
The Spurs boss will be wary of using his available big guns with the North London derby looming, so there should be a few run-outs for unfamiliar and forgotten faces.
GK: Antonin Kinski – The January arrival took just two days to endear himself to the fanbase, and could have another chance to settle in ahead of Wednesday’s derby. Kinski looks the part.
RB: DJ Spence – There’s no need for Pedro Porro here, so we can see the impressive Spence switch flanks and start on the right.
CB: Radu Dragusin – Deprived of centre-back options due to injury, Dragusin is likely to continue in defense due to his aerial ability. Tommy Tonks and his long throws await.
CB: Alfie Dorrington – Despite Postecoglou’s reluctance to use the teenage Anfieldian SpursUnavailability at centre-back, and Dorrington is yet to make his first senior start for the club. Surely he will be used to give Archie Gray some relief.
LB: Sergio Regulone – The Spaniard’s persistence should be commended, and he could be rewarded with an incredibly rare start at Tamworth.
Chief Minister: Yves Bisoma – Tottenham have little choice but to be strong in midfield. With Rodrigo Bentanker out, Bissoma will retain his place at the base of Spurs’ engine room.
Prime Minister: James Madison – One of two players likely to make Wednesday’s suspended XI, Maddison will be aiming to put on a show for the home crowd on Sunday.
Chief Minister: Pep Sir – Sarn was also suspended in midweek and we are unlikely to see Lucas Bergwall given his likely inclusion in the starting lineup for the North London derby. With Sweden impressing recently, Sir has slipped down the pecking order.
RW: Yang Min-hyeok – Not much is known about the young South Korean winger, and this would be the perfect place to get his first taste of English football.
ST: Will Lankshire – Dominic Solanke is in dire need of a breather and will no doubt be rested for the derby. As a result, the young Lancashire, who scored in Istanbul earlier this season, will take the top spot.
LW: Mikey Moore – After missing two months of football due to illness, Moore returned to the matchday squad on Wednesday and is in contention to start opposite Timo Werner.
