Awesome Games Done Quick raised another $2.5 million for a cancer nonprofit

The one-week speedrunning marathon Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 ended at night on Sunday morning, and the organizers said it managed to pull in a total of $2,556,305 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

As expected, the event in Pittsburgh brought a good mix of skill and madness: there was a Crazy Taxi speedrun with live band; FunkopotamusWes plays the piano during his run on New Super Mario Bros. Wiiuse his head and feet to control the game through motion controls; and Dr. Doot made and Elden ring boss speedruns with the electric saxophone. Yes, the saxophone did very little doot doot sound all the time.

The marathon runs continuously from January 5-12, so there are many, many more great moments besides this one to catch up on if you miss it. Everything can be found in Games Done Quick YouTube channel.

AGDQ is one of the many charity-focused events that Games Done Quick puts on each year, and next, Back to Black coming in February. Highlighting Black hosts and speedrunners, that event (Feb 6-9) will raise money for the racial justice nonprofit, Race Forward. Over the years, Games Done Quick has raised more than $54 million for various charities including the Prevent Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Borders. AGDQ raised about $2.5 million during its marathon last year, too.
