‘That’s not how it works’: Ahead of Shark Tank India 4 appearance, Gaurav Taneja addresses ‘1 crore an hour’ reports

YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, popularly known for his family vlogging channel Flying Beast, will appear on the recent season of Shark Tank India. In a YouTube vlog, Taneja addressed media reports suggesting that he earns around ₹1 crore per hour through Beast Life, his whey protein business.

He said that even before his episode airs, people have already started thinking that he makes so much money.

“People have started thinking that I make ₹1 crore in an hour, but that’s not how it works. That’s just income – it’s not money in the bank or money in your pocket,” the YouTuber said.

He also said that since Beast Life is a startup, whatever he and his CEO earn is put back into the business. “Don’t believe everything you see on business YouTube channels. You have to understand how the Internet works.”

He also addressed claims that he was on the show for marketing and not funds. “I wanted both, marketing and money. You can’t run a business without them. We went for both, not that we didn’t want marketing. We did. The biggest companies in the world want marketing.”

He further admitted that he had a bit of a ‘nok-jhok’ with some of the show’s investors, while adding that there will be enough ‘masala’ for his fans in the episode.

He also said that although he had no intention of going on Shark Tank and his wife Ritu Rathee also said that there was too much risk if he brought Beast Life on the show. Taneja also mentioned that their CEO felt that going reality would be against them if investors didn’t like their product.

He also recalled Pathik Patel’s launch of Fit & Flex in Season 3, in which Deepinder Goyal and Anupam Mittal accused him of “misleading” customers. Patel later accused Sony TV of editing out key parts of the presentation and ignoring the data he later sent them to support his claims.

Patel also said she never claimed her products were healthy, while adding that Namita Thapar’s rebuttal to Anupam Mittal was edited. Despite this, Gaurav Taneja decided to enter the show when one of his investors advised him.
