Brand offers THC and CBD mocktails as cannabis market to surpass $45 billion


As consumers across the US cut back by 2025 with a one-month pledge to abstain alcoholic beveragessome are contemplating keeping the lack of enthusiasm alive in February and beyond.

Some of the most popular non-alcoholic drinks include virgin mojitos and pina coladas, non-alcoholic seltzers, and non-alcoholic canned cocktails.

One brand, Modern Alchemist, is taking consumption in the alcohol-free space to a new level by offering THC and CBD infusion mocktails.

“Being in the beer industry for so long, we’re recognizing that everyone is not one-dimensional,” Modern Alchemist CEO Nathan Kelischek told FOX Business. “Not everyone is looking to buy alcohol all the time.”

Each can is made with 5mg of THC derived from US grown hemp and CBD.

Kelischek is one too the founders from Appalachian Mountain Brewery, a North Carolina-based business.

“We don’t think there’s anything wrong with alcoholKelischek added. “I think the modern person or the modern consumer wants to have more choices and more control over the day they’re going to have or how they want to feel.”

In 2021, cannabidiol products generated $5.3 billion, and by 2026 it is expected to increase to $16 billion, according to Statista. CBD-infused beverages are a constantly growing category.

This year, the cannabis market in the US it is expected to top $45 billion, according to the source.

Started by Kelischek and his cousin, Chris Zieber, president of Modern Alchemist, the brand was developed with the goal of integrating by addressing a variety of consumer needs.

“We’re really leaning towards quality seltzer trend that a lot of companies are getting into it now,” Kelischek said.

Modern Alchemist offers consumers three flavors: Margarita, which is made with real lime juice and agave syrup; Jungle Bird, made with fresh pineapple juice; and Citrus Spritz, made with yuzu, grapefruit and orange.

“They’re all for different occasions,” Kelischek said.

“Because we’re using such fresh, real ingredients, you might have to shake the can a bit,” he added. “But most of it is not from the Dry Hemp THC and CBD. It’s from the lime we’re using and the pineapple.”

As for state laws and regulations, Kelischek said the brand complies with the rules and adheres to the legal landscape of everything the usa

“We have documentation of the chain of custody all the way to the hemp plant and then to the manufacture of the products,” Kelischek said. “Our lawyer is pretty clear on where we can and can’t sell.”

“If a state says it’s illegal to buy, our website automatically blocks them,” he added. “You can buy online, but it only caters to states where it’s legal.”

Although Modern Alchemist has only just begun its journey, the brand is looking forward to more cheeky offerings in the near future.

“I think right now consumers just want to try everything,” Kelischek said. “We have a variety pack that we have available.”

Kelischek said consumer feedback “doesn’t help,” since sales of variety packs consistently outpace single packs.

“This has been our most popular seller,” he said.
