Richard Sherman knew Pete Carroll better than most. The former Seattle Seahawks cornerback and Carroll played in back-to-back Super Bowls in 2013 and 2014. To this day, Carroll holds the only Super Bowl victory in franchise history.

On Thursday’s “Up and Adams,” Sherman backed Carroll in addressing all of the Bears’ issues, including one sticking point that he believes isn’t enough.

(0:11) “I think he’s going to get a coaching job just because he’s a culture builder,” Sherman said. “I think everyone has gotten into the cutesy mentality of offensive genius and defensive genius and they forget to build the culture, and he built it with a young quarterback.

“He was built with quarterbacks that people threw away. He had success on defense. All the things that allowed him to be really successful.”

Of course, one could argue that the Seahawks have won ten games this season under rookie head coach Mike McDonald, and Carroll’s exit is far from derailing the team. So one might wonder what impact he would have had on the Bears if he arrived in the Windy City.

The potential head coach has a lot on his plate and not much time to do it. In addition to his initial responsibilities, he will need to change the culture of the building and change everything else from top to bottom that he feels is not aligned with the organization in order to improve the team, just like he did in seattle seahawks.

If he’s hired in January, he’ll need to hire an offensive and defensive coordinator. Then, he’ll need to hire additional position coaches.

Afterwards, Pete Carroll needs to figure out his NFL Draft advice and convey it to general manager Ryan Bolles. After that, he needs to work through OTAs and develop a training camp plan.

With all of this done, Carroll needed to figure out how to educate players on how to orchestrate change. At the same time, he needs to figure out what works Caleb Williams and what not. Then, he can start making plans for the 2025 season.

This scheme may be his greatest contribution to the team and may be their best hope of quickly defeating the Detroit Lions, minnesota vikings and the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round.

In short, if Carroll is hired, he will have a busy few months before making tangential plans for the 2025-26 season. In other words, by 2025, all Carroll can do may be to stay put.
