Filmmaker David Lynch Remembered by Hollywood Friends and Collaborators

Cinema has lost a lot today. While the news of by David Lynch The passing seems more unreal than anything the director has done, we mourn the loss along with other filmmakers and actors who had the privilege of existing in the Lynchian era. And we poured a cup of very good coffee for him.

The contemporary and fellow cinema titan of the modern era Steven Spielberg, shared a statement on different about the great loss of his age: “I like David’s films. Blue Velvet, Mulholland Driveand Elephant Man He was described as a singular, visionary dreamer who directed films that felt handmade,” Spielberg recalled. “I met David when he played John Ford The Fabelmans. Here’s one of my heroes—David Lynch playing one of my heroes. It’s real and looks like a scene from one of David’s own movies. The world will miss an original and unique voice. His films have stood the test of time and they always will.

Longtime friend and colleague Kyle MacLachlan paid tribute to Lynch at Instagram: “Forty-two years ago, for reasons I cannot understand, David Lynch plucked me from obscurity to star in his first and last big-budget movie. He clearly saw the something in me that even I didn’t recognize. I owe my entire career, and life, to his vision.

What I saw in him was a mysterious and intuitive man with a creative sea welling up inside him. He spoke to something we wanted to get at.

Our friendship grew Blue Velvet and then Twin Peaks and I have always found him to be the truest living man I know.

David is in tune with the universe and his own imagination to the degree that he seems to be the best version of man. He is not interested in answers because he understands that questions are the drive that makes us who we are. They are our breath.

While the world has lost an amazing artist, I have lost a dear friend who envisioned a future for me and allowed me to travel to worlds I could not have imagined on my own.

I can see him now, standing to welcome me in his yard, with a warm smile and a big hug and the Great Plains honked a sound. We will talk over coffee, the joy of the unexpected, the beauty of the world, and laughter.

His love for me and mine for him came from the cosmic fate of two people seeing the best things about themselves in each other.

I miss him more than my tongue can say and my heart can bear. My whole world got worse because I knew him and it’s emptier now that he’s gone.

David, I remain forever renewed, and forever your Kale. Thank you for everything.”

Actor Nicolas Cage shared on The deadline: “He’s brave, brilliant, and a maverick with a great sense of humor,” Cage continued, “I’ve never had more fun on a film set than working with David Lynch. He’s always been solid gold.”

David Lynch said that filmmaking should be fun and joyful. Of course it can be hard work. Of course the work itself can involve all kinds of pain and painful truths. But the act of creation itself should be full of joy. I think about that all the time.

RIP David Lynch. You are immortal.
