Mikel Arteta was not keen to dwell on Erling Haaland’s new mega contract at Manchester City when asked about it at his latest press conference.
The Spaniard has been undone by Haaland’s goals in the past two seasons as Arsenal have fallen just short in their bid to end a two-decade wait for a fourth Premier League title.
The city, which is still awaiting the verdict of an independent panel in the alleged 115 violations. Premier League financial regulations, confirmed on Friday that Haaland had signed A new nine-and-a-half-year contract runs until 2034 – which is projected to make him one of the highest-paid athletes in all of professional sport.

“Well, that’s news. If they’re willing to commit to a player for that long, it’s because they’re really happy, that’s good news for them,” Arteta replied.
Responding later to whether long-term contracts like Haaland’s would become the norm moving forward, the Gunners boss said: “I don’t know. It seems so. Obviously there are a few examples of that. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know if every club It takes the route, I think it will be a very special case, maybe we have physios and journalists with ten-year contracts, I don’t know.”

“I think if you want to fight for top trophies with top teams like we have for the last eleven months, two-and-a-half years, you have to enjoy those kinds of moments, those kinds of circumstances, those challenges, the pressure that comes with it because That I mean we play to win and that’s where we want to be.
“I think pressure comes from within. I think nobody can put pressure on you. I think it’s the wrong way and if that’s the case then maybe you’re not doing it, or preparing properly. You have to try. Be the best you can be and there’s no more pressure on you, every day, when you have this commitment with you to achieve that.”
