Karnataka claim Vijay Hazare Trophy Win the 2024/25 Championship with a convincing 36-game winning streak Vidarbha in the high-scoring final at the Tambi Stadium, Baroda. Batting first, Karnataka posted a mammoth 348/6 thanks to Ravichandran SmaranDirected 101 of 92 balls and contributed quick shots. Abhinav Manohar (42 out of 79) and Krishnan Shrijith (78 minus 74).
Although Vidarbha scored a heroic 110 off 111 balls in the opener Dhruv Shorey and harsh dubeVidarbha, who posted an explosive 63 off 30 balls in the latter stages, struggled and were bowled out for 312 in 48.2 overs. Karnataka Vasuki Koushik, Prasidh Krishna and Abhilash Shetty Sharing three wickets each ensured their teams clinched the trophy. Karnataka’s innings was a masterclass and they produced a high total under the pressure of the final. After a shaky start they lost Dedutt Padikkar and KV Anish Smalan dominated the innings with a brilliant 92-ball 101, a blend of aggression and control. His collaboration with Shrijith (160 booth) and later with Manohar was crucial. Shrijith’s solid 78 off 74 balls laid a solid foundation, but it was Manohar’s staggering 79 off 42 balls, which included 10 fours and 4 sixes ), pushing Karnataka past 340 runs. Their innings witnessed multiple milestones, with Smaran and Shrijith reaching 50s in quick succession before Smaran completed a century. Vidarbha’s bowlers struggled to maintain consistency despite taking six wickets Najib and Darshan Narkand The losses were heavy, with 67 and 68 points conceded respectively.
Vidarbha fights back led by Dhruv Shorey and Harsh Dubey
The chase for Vidarbha begins due to Shorey’s elegant knock. Starting the first innings, Shorey showed his class with a fluid 111 off 110 balls, combining textbook batting with smart batting rotation. However, he lacks substantial support from the mid-level. captain nell and Yash Rathod Made a brief contribution but regular wickets derailed the chase. The final high came from Dube, who blasted 63 off just 30 balls with a powerful six and a boundary to keep Vidarbha’s hopes alive. Despite their valiant efforts, Vidarbha’s innings collapsed under pressure, with 3 wickets falling within 10 overs towards the end. Karnataka’s bowlers, especially Kusik and Shetty, kept a tight front in the death overs and ensured there were no miracles.

Karnataka’s bowling brilliance under pressure
Defending 349, Karnataka’s bowlers showed resilience and tactical awareness on a batting-friendly pitch. Kusik led the attack with figures of 3/47 in 10 overs, effectively using variations to trouble the batsmen. Krishna, though expensive with 84 runs in his quota, provided crucial breakthroughs, including the dismissal of Vidarbha’s skipper Nair. Shetty was instrumental in taking three wickets, including the precious scalps of Shorey and Dube at crucial moments. Shreyas Gopal He provided control in the middle order and conceded just 55 runs in 10 games despite not taking a wicket. Karnataka’s defense was sharp and key catches and runs ensured Vidarbha never got full momentum. Their ability to stay calm in the death rounds resulted in a memorable championship victory.
