The last migrant caravans before Trump’s inauguration

Caravans were formed every year because, over time, they became more frequent and smaller, in an effort to attract less attention.

The nationality of the people in the caravans also changed. In 2018, most people came from Central America. More recently, reflecting changing migration patterns, Venezuelans have constituted the largest single group. People from other South American countries can also be found. One woman in a recent caravan was carrying her Bible from Peru.
