During his inaugural address at the US Capitol building, Trump he laid out his vision for his second administration, promising to “put America first.”

With Trump and Vance’s new positions, both have six-figure annual salaries.

The president’s salary is $400,000 a year, according to US law. It is paid in monthly intervals.

In addition, Trump will receive an “expense allowance of $50,000 to help defray expenses related to or arising out of the performance of his official duties,” according to the law.

The president “shall also be entitled to the use of the furniture and other effects belonging to the United States and maintained in the Executive Residence of the White House” during his term, the US code said.

There’s also money for travel and entertainment, which total $100,000 and $19,000 respectively, according to CBS News.

During his last administration, Trump donated money he received as presidential compensation to a large number of government agencies.

Meanwhile, Vance Currently, he can expect to be paid $235,100 a year as chairman, according to the National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF).

A document released by the Office of Personnel Management noted a measure in the American Relief Act of 2025 “continues the freeze on pay rates payable to the Vice President and certain senior political officials through March 14 2025”. Whether that will be extended will be decided by “future action by Congress,” he said.

The vice president’s official salary in January was $289,400, but he won’t get all of that because of the freeze.

The people selected by Trump to serve as members of the cabinet they are also set to receive more than $200,000 in compensation if confirmed, the Office of Personnel Management said.

Trump and Vance’s inauguration came two weeks after the House and Senate began the 119th Congress earlier this month.

Leaders of the US legislature, including the Speaker of the House, Speaker Pro Tempore, Majority Leaders, and Minority Leaders, also receive considerable compensation.

The speaker of the house, who oversees the House, pulls in $223,500 each year, according to the NTUF.

The annual salary of the majority and minority leaders in both the House and Senate is $193,400, according to a Congressional Research Service report. So does the salary of the president pro tempore of the Senate.

In a joint statement with House Majority Leader Tom Emmer and Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain released after Trump’s inauguration on Monday, Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise say that the US “now stands on the threshold of a new era” and promised House Republicans. “He will work closely with President Trump again to deliver the America First Agenda.”
