Pirates star Paul Skenes’ coveted rookie card goes to young collector after MLB team makes bid


Coveted one-of-a-kind autographed MLB first patch card pittsburgh pirates Pitcher Paul Skenes is no longer on the transfer market.

An 11-year-old collector from Southern California has decided to reclaim this card, which appears in the 2024 Topps Chrome update set.

Cards of Skenes, named Player of the Year 2024 National League Rookie of the YearWhen the trading card and collectible maker launched it in November, there was a lot of interest.

Soon after the card was revealed to the public, pirates started clamoring to get their hands on it.

While any Skenes autographed card has some value, MLB Debut Patch This edition is a unique collector’s item and therefore highly sought after.

The Pirates offer a long list of benefits in exchange for this card. The team provided two three-year senior Buccaneers season tickets, a meet-and-greet with Skenes and an autographed jersey.

Despite the latest developments, Buccaneers confirmed the squad remains ready to honor the offer.

“An 11-year-old collector just pulled out a Paul Skenes 1/1 Debut Patch card! Our offer is still active…you know where to find us,” Posted by Pirates X Tuesday.

LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, who is dating Skenes, added another incentive for anyone who finds the card.

“Let’s up the ante…whoever finds this card can sit with me in my suite and watch the Pirates game,” Dunn wrote in a post on her Instagram Story.

Skenes, 22, had a season to remember in 2024, going 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts.

Before winning NL Rookie of the Year, Skenes was named to the MLB All-Star team. Skenes is the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and made his major league debut in May.

Since 2023, rookies have worn the MLB debut patch on their jerseys. Topps acquired these patches and created unique cards.
