Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Brazil international Caroline Nicoli on a three-and-a-half-year deal until 2028.
The 25-year-old joins from NWSL side North Carolina Courage where she was named the first South American NWSL Most Valuable Player in 2023 after helping her club to the Challenge Cup that same year. She also has 45 senior caps for the Brazil national team under her belt.
Caroline becomes city’A third addition in the January transfer window following the arrivals of Rebecca Knack and Emu Oyama. He will wear the number 14 shirt for the remainder of the season.
The forward told mancity.com: “I’m very excited to be here. I think there were many reasons why I chose City and one of them was to play in the Champions League.
“I think the players (in WSL) is really technical and the team is compact. I want to get better, learn different things and come here as a challenge, also play against defenders who will play in the next World Cup in Brazil in 2027.
“I am really excited to be a part of the team. I have a lot of confidence, but I know I need to work hard to be great here. It will be a bit different between here and where I’ve played before, but I’m really excited.
This step comes at a time when England International Chloe Kelly faces an uncertain future at the club with her contract set to expire at the end of the season.
