Abdukodir Kusanov: Manchester City’s £33.5m bid for defender accepted by Lens after agreeing in principle Omar Marmouche deal Football News

Lens have accepted an offer from Manchester City for Abdukodir Kusanov.

A £33.5 million (€40 million) plus bonus deal has been agreed between the clubs.

The 20-year-old Uzbekistan international centre-back Kusanov will sign a four-and-a-half-year contract, which also includes an option to extend for a further year until June 2030.

The news comes after Omar Marmouche agreed in principle to move to Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt, pending an agreement between the two clubs.

The German club have offered around £67m (€80m) for the 25-year-old Egypt international, with negotiations expected to begin soon.

An opening offer could come as early as this weekend. Mamouche wants the move because he knows he is a first-choice target for current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The striker has no release clause and offers well below the previously mentioned figure are expected to be rejected by the Bundesliga club, who sit third in Germany’s top flight.

Manchester City and Mamouche’s camp believe a transfer fee of £42 million to £50 million (€50-60 million) is more realistic.

Mamouche can play any position in the front three and has scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga so far this season, second only to Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane.

South American football expert Tim Vickery says Reis ‘isn’t ready for the Premier League’

South American football expert Tim Vickery said of Vito Reis on Sky Sports News’ transfer talk:

“Palmeiras is in the Club World Cup and they really want to keep the centre-back who turns 19 next week.

“I don’t think he’s ready for the Premier League at the moment. He’s classy but he needs to add physical qualities.

“Palmeiras has produced a lot of good players recently – most of them attackers.

“If you put him in the Premier League now he would really get bullied. So maybe it’s in everyone’s interest for him to stay in Brazilian football a little longer.”

“But Palmeiras are unwilling to sell before the Club World Cup.”
