Adam Azim will face tough former world champion Sergei Lipinets for the first time this year, live on February 1 sky sports.
Undefeated super lightweight Azim, who already holds the European title, has ambitious plans for the rest of 2025, with a clash with Harbin later this year if he beats Lipinets at Wembley Arena. British boxing rivals such as Lem Eubank or Dalton Smith competed.
“This is my first game of 2025,” Azim said sky sports. “Hopefully you never know, I might be fighting Dalton Smith.
“There’s a lot of names out there, like Dalton Smith, Harlem Eubank.
“Whatever opportunity presents itself,” he continued. “I’m just going to do my job.”
Eubank remains undefeated but struggled in his last fight in November, an eight-round boxing match with Nurali Erdogan.
Both fighters received points deductions, with Eubank suffering a cut to his eye in the seventh round.
Azim’s scheduled fight with Eubank in 2024 ultimately fell through, but he also received a warning.
“He can’t (do it to me like this) because I’m going to beat him in two rounds,” Azim said.
“A lot of people have bad days in the office, but he looked really bad.”
Azim last boxed in October when he defeated O’Hara Davis. He aims to build on his success against Lipinets.
“I’m vicious about the Ohara Davis fight. We have a friendship there, but when we get in the ring, it’s a fight. I’m going to chop his head off, that’s what I’m going to do,” he said .
“I’m going to be very disruptive. It’s going to be very clinical, it’s going to be a pure master class.”
However, Lipinets will be Azim’s toughest opponent of his career to date. “This is the right step,” he said.
“I’m just looking forward to this fight. He’s a great operator. He’s been at the world level, he’s a former IBF world champion and he’s fought Mikey Garcia, ‘The Boot’ (Jalen Ennis, now IBF The same goes for the welterweight champion) who fought among others).
“‘The Boot’ beat him in six rounds and beat him, but I think overall he’s at world level, so he’s a good operator.”
Azim hopes to prove his quality in this game against Lipinets.
“This is my chance and a big moment to show that I’m ready to step up to the level of a world champion,” he declared.
“I think I have everything it takes to be a world champion and I’m sure when he wants me to fight in the paint, when he wants to fight from distance, I can do it all. I can fight in the paint, I can fight from distance Fighting I can be mid-range and I have all the tools to perform at the top level in boxing.
“My mentality has always been that when I get in the ring, there will be no distractions, nothing like that. I’m going to show a very mature, calm performance.”
