Reasons why Mohammed Siraj was excluded

The Indian captain also attended the press conference Rohit SharmaAgarkar explained that selectors have to make tough choices based on team composition and strategy.

“But it was purely because we thought about it. We were not sure (Jasprit) Bumrah (if he would be fit for the third ODI against England), whether he would play or not. We wanted to pick a ball Team, we have a choice of both, someone playing with the new ball and someone playing at the back end, obviously with Bumrah missing, we’re not sure.

Agarkar highlighted that when Siraj was not used as a new-ball bowler, his efficiency dropped and this affected their selection decision Ardeep Singh instead.

“We’re hoping Arshdeep can play a bowling role at the back end and (Mohammed) Shami obviously we’ve seen what he’s done with the new ball and that’s how efficient we think he’s going to be if Siraj doesn’t go. Where it will drop a little bit to get the new ball.

“We discussed it at length and we only took three seamers there because we wanted all the all-rounders to be with us. It was unfortunate that he had to miss out but we had no choice but to get able Someone who plays a certain role. I personally think our players can be effective with the new ball, both in the middle and at the back, so you need to cover all three aspects of the game,” the former India pacer added.
