Brighton continued their dominance over Manchester United with a deserved win at Old Trafford this afternoon.

On a day when United honors the memory of great Dennis Lowe, who died on Friday, the Seagulls emerged deserved winners as Ruben Amorim’s concerns continued with another disappointing performance from his side.

Yankuba Minteh put Brighton ahead and, although Bruno Fernandes equalized from the penalty spot, Kauro Mitoma and Georginio Rutter added second-half goals for Fabian Herzeler’s side.

A shambolic Onana emblematic of United’s problems

Rutter’s goal came after a horrendous mistake by United goalkeeper Andre Onana and summed up the hosts’ agony as they lost against Brighton for the eighth time in 16 Premier League meetings.

United came into the game with plenty of momentum after Amad Diallo’s late hat-trick as they beat Southampton on Thursday night but when Mitoma burst past Nousser Mazrouei and Minteh The atmosphere flattened out early when crossed to tap.

Brighton thought they had scored again eight minutes after the restart, Joao Pedro scoring when United failed to clear Yassin Ayari’s free-kick only for the goal to be awarded by VAR following a foul on Dalot by Jan Paul van Hecke. .

They were not to be denied at the hour mark, however.

Minteh played the ball into the far post and Mitoma did enough to fend off Mazaroi’s challenge and turn the ball in.

United went in search of another equalizer but Zirkzy’s shot, after a great run from Diallo, was blocked by Van Hecke.

It was to prove a pivotal moment as Brighton immediately went down the other end and ended the contest with a third goal.

Onana thought he had cleared the danger by coming out to collect Ayari’s cross but, after initially claiming it, he released the ball and Rutter had the straightforward task of firing into an empty net.

Amorim threw on Antony, who is on the verge of ending his miserable time at United on loan to Real Betis and Rasmus Hojlund, and he breathed some life into United’s attacking play.

Diallo forced Verbruggen into a low stop before fellow substitute Alejandro Garnacho shot wide when well placed.

Their efforts failed, however, as Brighton continued with relative ease to hand United their fourth defeat in seven games in all competitions.

The Seagulls are ninth, just four points off a Champions League spot, with United in 13th.
