Gujarat Titans all-around Washington Sundar played a role in his team against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match between the two teams was held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Washington Sundar stepped out of the bat in fourth place, and he made a huge effort on the racket and leaned the game. The Gujarat Titans lost two quick wickets and was under enormous pressure to chase the target of 153 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and he started hitting the ball.
Washington Sundar hit back at Hyderabad’s bowlers while he made some gorgeous shots in his innings. The all-around player put all the pressure on Shubman Gill to lose two early wickets and bring the Gujarat Titans back to the game.
Washington Sundar was all looking for a brilliant fifties, but his stay in the crease was shortened by Aniket Verma in the field. On the first ball of the 14th, Mohammed Shami hit a short ball outside and the batsman cut it a lot into the sweeping cover.
Aniket Verma ran in from the depths and dived in front, holding it above the ground with both hands. The decision was sent upstairs, with referee Nitin Menon looking at several angles, mentioning Aniket’s hand under the ball.
It seems the ball grazed the ground before reaching the fielder, but the third referee would otherwise think so.

The captain told me to be as deep as possible – Washington Sundar
Sundar talked about his situation with the Bat, saying his captain wanted him to go deeper and finish the game. He also talked about his promotion in the batting order, saying he loved his time in the middle. After the game, he said:
“Better call all adjectives. The captain told me to hit the ball as deep as possible and wanted to finish the game for my team. This is the trend in Hyderabad over the past few years, and the wickets have become a little better and therefore easier to chase 160-170.
“I know if that helps.
