Australia’s unemployment rate rises to 4% in December

  • Australia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose gradually to 4.0% in December 2024 from November’s eight-month low of 3.9%, in line with market consensus.

  • The underemployment rate fell to 6.0% from 6.1% previously. Monthly hours worked in all jobs increased by 10 million to 1.976 million.
