HiddleValley Lake requested Ivy Liverpool barriers for coach Henry de Bromhead at Aintree.
Olly Murphy’s third place in the strong leader in the event was before Christmas at Ascot before Christmas, but it was a 12/1 chance after a disappointing performance by Gowran recently.
Darragh O’Keeffe, who was one of the runners, could enter the competition and head straight to the family as he joined Jessica Harrington’s Jetara, who joined Strong and Paul Nicholls’s Monmere as head of affairs.
That quartet jumped second on the first line, but O’Keeffe looked good at it as fellow Hidden Lake and Irish Lai Jetara left their British training rivals, trailing the final.
After the jump was completed, Sidendvalley Lake quickly asserted, galloping strongly, achieving two and three-thirds successes in the rally strong leader, despite failing to defend his title, despite not defending his title.
Jetara ranked third, Gordon Elliott’s Wall Park fourth, but for Bob Olinger, after winning at Cheltenham Festival, there was further success in the ongoing sector in De Bromhead and owner Robcour.
Thanks to the good ground, Teahupoo owned by Robcour owned Teahupoo was absentee for the night, and De Bromhead said: “It’s nice to be the second string, aren’t we? We’re so glad that Darragh gave him a super trip and we were a little worried about the ground, but I said he almost liked it.”
“He was a lovely horse, he was just in Ascot just chin. He was disappointed with Gowran on the last day, but was happy to have him come back.
“We’ll love it today. I think Bob Olinger is hoping to go to Punchestown, but both horses will come in and we’ll see the time closer.
“I would say we’re going to stick to the hurdle of this horse right now. We’ve tried a few jumps (fences) and he doesn’t seem to accept it.”
Murphy said of the strong leader: “He ran well, but Sean (Bowen) was very upset because they didn’t gallop, which meant he had to ride him more conveniently than we wanted.
“If they went gallop, maybe we won? Maybe, but the best horse of the day won and he ran another cookie.
“We didn’t have any excuses for bars, they didn’t gallop, we had to ride him differently to normal, but his running was great.
“He was just a very powerful accommodation and they weren’t quick.
“I’m very happy, but you want to win or not.
