Shakur Stevenson says he wants people to watch him defend his WBC light title against Floyd Schofield next month in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 22 He was called “the best boxer in the world” when he won the heavyweight title.
The match will be broadcast live on DAZN PPV and many fans will be watching. This is the perfect opportunity for Shakur to expand his fan base by starring in the main event between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol A performance that stole the show.
“The best in the world”
“I’m dominant. I don’t have close fights. You watch me go up one, two, three, four, five, six rounds and then it gets to the point where somebody just wants it to end. They want a knockout or else. There’s going to be a lot of criticism,” Shakur Stevenson said. Out in secondsreacting to those who criticized his fighting style, labeling him “boring”.
“I sit in the pocket a lot. My last game (Artem Harutyunyan), I sat in the pocket. If he comes back with no worries, I’m going to have to put him in his spot,” Shakur said of Floyd Schofield. “I’ll fight all these guys. I’ll fight Ryan. I’ll fight Devin or Te’o. Any of those guys. If those guys want to fight me, I’ll fight them.
“I’m the best boxer in the world,” Shakur said when asked what he wanted people to say about him when he faces Schofield on Feb. 22 in Riyadh. “I know I’m the best boxer in the world and I can’t wait to prove it,” Stevenson said.
The notion that Shakur “sits in the pocket a lot” during games is not true. He only does this when facing weak opponents. He never stood idly by when faced with talented and powerful opponents, which is why he was criticized.
In Stevenson’s last game against Artem Harutyunyan, he stayed in the pocket because he was weak and slow. In his previous fight against Edwin de los Santos, Stevenson was on his bike for the entire 12 rounds and was booed by fans.
The fighters Shakur wanted to fight were not interested in fighting him. He said he wants to fight Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney. Those guys won’t fight him because he doesn’t engage and moves too much. That’s why Stevenson didn’t get cannibalized by Gervonta Davis and Vasily Lomachenko.
“I’d love to fight Tank. I’d love to fight Gervonta Davis. I think this is the biggest, best fight in the sport of boxing. Anytime they want one of those fights to happen, I’m ready for it Good to fight anybody,” Stevenson said.
Turki Shaikh could lure Tank into a fight with Shakur, but getting that fight would require a big offer as the Baltimore native has no interest in fighting him.
