Caroline Dubois has her sights set on a world title unification and has called for a match with Terri Harper next.
Dubois is the holder of the WBC lightweight world title, while rival Britton Harper is the holder of the WBO title.
“135 pounds is my weight class. I want to be the undisputed goal by the end of the year. That’s the goal, that’s my goal and we’re going to get there,” DuBois told sky sports.
“Unification, a challenge to the Undisputed, a challenge to all the belts, a challenge to make that happen. Anything to make it happen as quickly as possible.”
Dubois turned 24 on Saturday, but she didn’t get the birthday present she wanted. Her goal is to eliminate Jessica Camara.
She looked to make up the time and attacked Kamara relentlessly throughout both rounds. But the game ended early with a technical draw when Kamara was unable to continue due to an accidental headbutt that interrupted play.
Then Du Bois announced what she wanted next: “Terri Harper. That’s who I want. Terri Harper – I want you!”
Du Bois told sky sports: “We’re about to play the Royal Albert Hall (March 7). That’s in London. Terri is from the UK and I’m from the UK. It’s a domestic showdown. It makes sense. I don’t get it. Why not.
“Fight me, you’re going to get beat, but you’re going to get a big show, you’re going to get paid well, and it’ll make it worth it.”
Promoter Ben Shalom noted that Dubois has other fighting options as early as March 7.
“The idea is that she’s going to fight on women’s night and it’s going to be a big fight,” Shalom told reporters. sky sports.
“We want her to be undisputed in the division. We think we can do that this year.”
He believes Dubois’ next game should be a unification. “Our focus is on getting another belt. Obviously, you’ve got Terri Harper, you’ve got Beatrice Ferreira (IBF champion), you’ve probably got Stephanie Han (vacant) WBA champion,” Shalom said.
“Those three are on the roster and Rhiannon Dixon is on the roster. It was a great British game. So she has options.”
Shalom is expected to give Harper the fight sometime in 2025. “I think that’s going to happen this year. I think we’re going to see that this year,” he said.
“I think they’re open to it. It’s going to be expensive because no one really wants to fight Caroline. I think she’s the toughest fight in the division for everybody, that’s for anybody. It’s all a money fight.
“She’s generated a lot of hype. She’s a big name and a lot of people see her as the next face of women’s boxing, which means fighters are hoping to get career-high paychecks to face Caroline Dubois.
“That’s what Terri Harper wants and I think that fight is going to be there this year.”
Natasha Jonas will face Lauren Price in a welterweight world title fight live on March 7 sky sports.
