DC’s $73,000 grand opening hotel package sold out

Some people are shelling out tens of thousands of dollars just to be in the nation’s capital when President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Vance take their oaths of office.

The Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC, offered a package “in commemoration of the 60th Inauguration of the President of the United States,” with a starting price of $73,500 before taxes.

Not only was the five-star luxury hotel package, whose name is synonymous with one of the biggest political scandals in American history, sold out, but it’s also non-refundable and non-cancellable.

“Ever since Nixon infamously declared ‘I am not a thief,’ the Watergate Hotel has seen many renovations, but none that embraced its original design or its elegant clientele—until now. We’ve arrived at the latest chapter of the hotel as a luxury hotel in Washington DC,” the hotel’s website says.
