Michael van Gerwen will make his debut at the Dutch Darts Masters later this month after losing to Luke Littler in the World Darts Championship final.
Van Gerwen failed to achieve a fourth world title when he defeated teenage star Little 7-3 at Alexandra Palace on January 3 to win the sport’s crown jewel for the first time.
The Dutchman could get a chance for revenge, with Littler and world number one Luke Humphries also set to take part in the World Series of Darts in ‘s-Hertogenbosch on January 24-25 A star-studded appearance.
Littler returns to action with former world champion Humphries Bahrain Masters Thursday, but Van Gerwen’s return will bring with him enthusiastic home support.
The entry list, officially confirmed on Monday, also includes World Championship semi-finalists Stephen Bunting and Chris Dobie, while Gervin Price, Nathan Aspinall and Rob Cross are the other PDC representatives.
Dutch No. 2 Danny Noppert tops a list of Benelux representatives that also includes 2022 champion and reigning British Open champion Dimitri Van den Bergh ).
2022 Vandenberg runner-up Dirk van Duijvenbode returns to his home country to compete alongside World Youth Champion Gian van Veen.
Five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld aims to turn back the years in front of his Partizan home crowd with resurgent Jermaine Wattimena set to return World Series of Darts.
Elsewhere, Kevin Doets, fresh off his breakthrough run to the last 16 at Alexandra Palace, will meet debutant Richard Veenstra ) competed together, while World Grand Prix Champion Mike De Decker missed the race due to family reasons.
The Winmau World Masters follows the Dutch Masters before the 2025 BetMGM Premier League will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on Thursday 6 February.
