Each postponed Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie

The women’s football calendar finally resumed at the weekend after the winter break as the fourth round of this season’s FA Cup got underway.

However, a number of teams were forced to spend another week in action as the freezing cold and adverse weather conditions caused a number of postponements across the country.

Only nine of the scheduled 16 fourth-round games actually took place, with the remaining seven pushed back to the end of the month.

WSL teams Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City And Aston Villa were in action and booked their place in the fifth round. Chelsea comfortably beat Charlton Athletic 4–0, while United finally scored seven goals against National League side West Bromwich Albion at Leigh Sports Village.

Elsewhere, London City Lionesses won 5–0 against Fulham, the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition, and Newcastle United sealed their place in the next round with a narrow 1–0 win over Nottingham Forest. The draw for the fifth round will take place on Monday evening at Wembley Stadium and is scheduled to start at around 6:30pm. Those ties will be scheduled for February.

The games that were postponed included Liverpool’s visit to West Ham, with the pitch at the Chigwell Construction Stadium believed to be stable. Leicester City were set to face Stoke City at Meadow Lane in Notts County, but an inspection of the pitch on Saturday afternoon determined that the surface was unplayable due to freezing weather conditions.

Tottenham Hotspur were also due to face Everton at Walton Hall Park on Sunday but that too was postponed due to a frozen pitch. ArmoryA meeting with Bristol City at Meadow Park was also among those pushed back.
