The most popular strategy game Endless Legend finally got a sequelten full years after the original game started blowing up the sales charts. Developer Amplitude Studios, who made the first one, just dropped a trailer for the Endless Legend 2 and it looks pretty darned cool.
This game and its sequel fall under “4X” sub-genre of strategy gameswhich means that the core of the gameplay involves building an empire of some sort. The Civilization titles are a good example of a 4X strategy. 4X actually stands for eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate. I don’t think “4E” has the same vibe.
In any event, Endless Legend 2 located in a new location, the ocean of Saiadha. The trailer hints at the mysterious nature of this world and showcases the refined gameplay mechanics. Also players may stumble upon an imprisoned god during campaigns. Good times.
Players can adopt the role of different factions in the game, many of which are shown in the trailer. There is the human-like race, the insect race and the centaur race, etc.
Here’s more good news for fans of the original. While Amplitude has yet to announce a release date, it says it will enter early access in “early 2025.” Using my advanced math skills, I figured out that 2025 is early now. The early access build will allow players to take control four of the aforementioned factionswith two more coming with the full release.
If that awkward release date has you riled up, there’s a way to try the game even earlier. The company is now open for applications for its insider program. Not everyone will be selected for the initial testing phase, but it’s worth a shot.
