Europa League: Manchester United vs Rangers

Match preview

Manchester United are one of five teams yet to lose a game in the Europa League this season and could take a step towards qualification for the knockout stages with a win against Rangers.

The Red Devils’ three draws and three wins have them sitting in the automatic places with 12 points.

And with opponents Rangers and Premier League rivals Tottenham breathing down their necks, Ruben Amorim must get his players over the line against the Scots.

It hasn’t been plain sailing for the home side in any competition this term, but they are favorites to lift the Europa League this year.

Having beaten Viktoria Plzen last time out and Bodo/Glimt before that, Amorim’s men have regained some momentum but it was never going to be an easy game against Rangers.

Despite their poor league form in Scotland this season, the Glasgow giants are capable of matching anyone on their day and have already drawn Spurs.

If they bring energy to Old Trafford, Philippe Clement’s side have a great chance of following in the footsteps of Wolves and Brighton and picking up the three points.

Team news for Manchester United vs Rangers

Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are close to returning to fitness but there is no official word on their availability.

He did not feature in training on Wednesday but is hinting that Marcus Rashford could be involved despite talk of a move to Barcelona.

Clement hinted in his press conference that goalkeeper Jack Butland could be in line to start against his former club.
