David Moyes will begin his second spell as Everton manager on Wednesday night when the Toffees host Aston Villa at Goodison Park in the Premier League. Moyes, who coached Everton between 2002 and 2013 before joining United, was appointed as the club’s new manager last week following the sacking of Sean Dyche.

Everton have won just three of 19 top-flight games under Dyche, leaving them hovering above the relegation zone in 16th place.

“It’s great to be back! I spent 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and when the opportunity came up to rejoin this great club I didn’t hesitate,” moyes saysadding that he was “pleased to work with the Friedkin Group,” which completed a £400m acquisition of Everton last month.

“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in supporting the players during this important season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team,” added the Scot.

Executive chairman Mark Watts said: “We are delighted that David is joining us at this crucial time in Everton’s history. With over a decade’s experience at the club, he is the ideal candidate to drive our final season at Goodison Park. And the right leader to go into the new stadium.”

Everton want Longstaff to be Moyes’ first signing

Moyes will undoubtedly add reinforcements to his squad in January if he wants to keep Everton on top. Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff could be one of those reinforcements, according to Chronicle Live, who claim he is The Merseyside club’s goals this month.

My job is to make them play as well as possible , and try to get into the box as much as possible and score goals.”
