EX-RCB Player Blams MS Dhoni on CSK’s Struggle

As debates about MS Dhoni’s retirement exploded throughout the cricket world, India’s Wicketkeeper Goswami strongly reminds everyone that MSD is not an average player.

Although many are questioning Dhoni’s position in Chennai Super Kings XI after many underperformed in the ongoing IPL 2025, Goswami made it clear that calling for iconic cricketers to retire is not something any expert or former players can do at will.

Goswami highlights that IPL is not just digital, but is related to emotion, loyalty and big brands, and despite Dhoni’s poor performance at the ongoing IPL 2025 Chennai Super Kings, he still represents what Dhoni represents.

This goes beyond our salary rating: Shreevats Goswami in retirement speech at MS Dhoni

Shreevats Goswami said on his social media side: “Honestly, I think this is beyond our salary rating (as an expert or a former cricketer) to comment or make suggestions about retirement to Dhoni. He has withdrawn from international cricket in 2020.

IPL is not just cricket, but it is a franchise entertainment, economics and large businesses. True, the brand MS Dhoni is still very active. Fans admire him not only for his cricket skills, but also for his leader and deep connections with people. ”

Meanwhile, Goswami said CSK wasn’t struggling with MS Dhoni’s hit, but admitted that his slow knock could be a small cause in the ongoing season. He advised CSK to try people like Shivam Dube, which might help them.

Shreevats Goswami recalls special moments of MS Dhoni

Goswami recalls a special moment with MS Dhoni during the Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinals. Dhoni’s words about form and faith have remained with him ever since. He added: “The only thing I want to talk to is when Bengal played Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinal.

I remember clearly what he said to “me” and no one saw the form. This is something in it. Sometimes you can even pretend to be in your form of body language. And, this will only take a single blow from the middle of the bat to really feel it.

Goswami mentioned that even today, young players look up to Dhoni for guidance, pointing out that his presence on the stumps has made the bowler more confident.

“Players will miss him more than fans”

He signed and said: “That’s why even now, so many young cricketers are looking for advice after every game. Players will miss him more than fans. Bowlers are still more confident in him behind the stump.”

Amid the buzz of retirement, Doni stressed that he would not decide his future now. After IPL 2025 ends in May, he plans to consider what he wants to do next year in the next 10 months. Earlier, there was speculation that CSK’s last game against DC was his last IPL game at Chepauk.
