A popular brand of organic milk is recalling thousands of cartons of milk due to spoilage issues, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall concerns the 8-ounce size of Horizon Organic Aseptic Whole Milk. In total, 19,688 cases have been withdrawn and on January 17 it was upgraded to Class II.
The expiration dates of the recalled products are between March 3 and 7, 2025. The milk was sold in Arizona, California and Nevada.
The affected products were sold with a 12-pack UPC code of 3663207113 and a single unit UPC code of 3663207127.
On its website, the FDA noted that milk is potentially susceptible to “premature product deterioration during shelf life.”
According to FDA guidelines, a Class II recall refers to a “situation where use of or exposure to an offending product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the likelihood of adverse consequences serious for health is remote”.
OVER 500,000 ELECTRIC HEATERS RECALLED FOR OVERHEATING PROBLEMS
It is not uncommon for food to be recalled due to spoilage issues.
Earlier this month, Walmart stores recalled more than 12,000 cartons Great Value Brand Chicken Broth, citing the reason as “potential for packaging failures that could compromise product sterility, resulting in spoilage.”
