Our Bodies, Our Sports, the first and only coalition of women’s advocacy groups fighting for equity in women’s sports in the country, has sent a letter to the president-elect asking him to use his influence to National Collegiate Athletic Association The action is being taken “to protect the rights and opportunities of female college athletes,” according to a press release.

“We are writing now to ask that you also use your strong voice to urge the NCAA to take action and clarify the rules of participation to protect the rights and opportunities of female athletes,” the letter reads in part.

“The NCAA’s controversial and unscientific transgender student-athlete participation policy continues to allow men to participate in women’s sports – denying women competitive opportunities, team spots, medals and the opportunity to compete safely and fairly,” the release reads.

The letter to the president-elect was written ahead of the 2025 NCAA Convention, which will be held January 14-17 in Nashville, Tennessee. This week has been filled with questions, forums, business meetings and awards ceremonies.

The letter comes after a federal judge blocked the Biden administration’s attempt to redefine sex as “gender identity” under Title IX and blocked it nationwide.

The ruling was made by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of kentucky The North Division opens with Cardona v. Tennessee on Tuesday.

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti celebrated the ruling in a post on X. “Another huge win for Tennessee and the country!” the post read. “This morning, a federal court ruled in our favor and struck down the Biden administration’s aggressive new Title IX rules nationwide.

“The court’s order is a huge victory for protecting girls’ privacy in locker rooms and showers and the freedom to speak their biologically correct pronouns.”

The Supreme Court previously rejected the Biden administration’s emergency request to enforce some of the new rules, which include protections for transgender students from discrimination under Title IX.

As for the NCAA’s current transgender participation policy, it allows transgender athletes to compete on a “sport-by-sport basis,” which “preserves opportunities for transgender student-athletes while balancing equity, inclusion and safety for all participants.” sex.” The governing body said its policy was consistent with that of the Olympic Movement.

Part of the NCAA policy requires transgender student-athletes to provide documentation consistent with the 2010 NCAA policy and meet athletic standards for documented testosterone levels at three time points: prior to regular season games, prior to the first game of the NCAA tournament, and “non-tournament” section” before any competition.

“We stand together to honor the generations of women who came before us and to defend all future women and girls,” the letter to Trump concluded. “We ask for your help in demanding that the NCAA finally take action to restore fairness and access to college sports, and we thank you for standing with us.”
