Gautam Gambhir exposed, Manoj Tiwary defends against ‘hypocrite’ charges

Team India’s recent performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has put India head coach Gautam Gambhir under immense pressure. This was the second time India lost a Test series during his tenure, after they lost the home series to New Zealand.

Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary has questioned Gautam Gambhir’s coaching experience, saying he does not have enough coaching experience to coach a big international team like India because He has never coached any state or IPL team before.

Gambhir and Tiwari had previously played together for KKR. The two also clashed during the 2015 Ranji Trophy match. In an earlier interview, Tiwari called Gambhir a hypocrite. He has now revealed why he used those words against Gambhir and has justified his statement.

Manoj Tiwari questions Gautam Gambhir’s coaching experience

Manoj Tiwari in an interview with Hindustan Times talked about the performance of the Indian team during Gautam Gambhir’s tenure as the team’s head coach. He called losing to New Zealand at home “unacceptable” as it was something that had never happened before.

“The results are there for all to see. When you lose three series in a short tenure, you lose the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and on top of that, you lose the home series against New Zealand. That’s A big loss because this has never happened before,” Tiwari said.

“A lot of things go without saying. Losing a home series to New Zealand is completely unacceptable. In your short career, you also lost an ODI series against Sri Lanka,” he added.

Tiwari claimed Gambhir was unable to replicate the success India enjoyed under former head coach Rahul Dravid. He also questioned Gautam Gambhir’s coaching experience at different levels.

“Winning and losing are part of the game, but the results speak for themselves. You need to look at the reasons behind these defeats. You have to understand and ensure that these things don’t continue,” Tiwari pointed out.

“Why didn’t he get the results he expected? Rahul Dravid passed the baton to him. Rahul Dravid left in a high mood but somehow that didn’t carry over, This is purely due to lack of coaching experience,” he calculated.

Manoj Tiwary reveals why he called Gautam Gambhir a ‘hypocrite’

Manoj Tiwary was asked in an earlier interview why he called Gautam Gambhir a “hypocrite”. The former justified his remarks by citing Gambhir’s previous remarks about foreign coaches and claimed that the former India opener has failed to deliver results during his coaching tenure.

“Why do I call him a hypocrite? If you remember, it’s because of one of his interviews. In one of the interviews, he said, ‘All these foreign coaches, all the guys from abroad, don’t have emotions, they have them Make money and enjoy yourself,” recalls Tiwari.

“Why did he bring up the names of Ryan Ten Dushat and Moeen Morkel when he selected all Indian coaches and all Indian origin support staff? He got everything he wanted but he couldn’t produce results with His actions don’t match his words, so I call him a hypocrite,” he explained.

Speaking about his old spat with Gambhir during the Ranji Trophy, Manoj Tiwari revealed that Gambhir abused his family and spoke ill of legendary captain Sourav Ganguly.

“When he fought against me in the Ranji Trophy in Delhi, everyone heard every word that came out of Gautam Gambhir’s mouth. Whether he was speaking ill of Sourav Ganguly or In insulting my family, he was protected by some people. That’s what I call PR.”

Gautam Gambhir appointed as India head coach

Under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, the Indian team has been struggling for wins, especially in Test cricket. India defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in his first ever Test cricket match as coach. However, the Men in Blue suffered a heavy defeat at home to New Zealand in the next Test series.

India lost 0-3, affecting their chances of qualifying for the World Test final, and ultimately paid the price. After the New Zealand series, India also lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia and were eliminated from the WTC final.

Apart from the Test series, India also lost the ODI series 0-2 to Sri Lanka. This was India’s first ODI series defeat on Sri Lankan soil in 27 years. The upcoming matches and especially the Champions League will be crucial for Gautam Gambhir’s coaching tenure.
