Thursday, Goodrx (Gdrx) launched a new way of paying and obtaining recipes that mimic the experience of e -commerce. The company will finally build it for all its pharmacy members.
The new offer for consumers includes finding the best price for the drug and allows users to pay recipes, all without leaving the Goodrx site. The customer can only go to the pharmacy counter and collect it, or if the retailer has a delivery option, chooses to deliver it. Previously, customers could only find the place coupons and should enter the stores to fill the recipes.
Hy-Ve, Midwest retail, is the first partner in the new service.
“Now, when a person is looking for his medication in Goodrx and selects Hy-Ve as a favorite pharmacy, the system will check the medicine inventory, validate his recipe and allow them to pay online before collecting his recipe in the store,” the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Goodrx is also in discussions to deploy the same service, on the website or through the application, with its other retail partners. It is currently associated with retailers such as Costco (Cost) and target (Tgt) and pharmacies like CVs (CVS) and WalGarens (Wba)). Goodrx refused to confirm which partners were on active discussions. But CEO Wendy Barnes told Yahoo Finance in an exclusive interview that there is a high level of interest.

The rationalization of recipe services has been a key topic in recent years throughout the industry.
WalGarens and CVS allow customers to order recipes again using applications and pick them up in the tests or through the delivery of the same day. Walmart (WmtThat) Also started offering a recipe delivery of the same day Last year, with the option of adding recipes to your online shopping cart along with regular groceries. Amazon (Amzn) Customers can fill the recipes as part of their online purchases on the site.
Barnes, an old executive At Rite Aid, CIGNA Express Scripts (CI), and pfizer (Pfe), he said that having a digital experience can help return more customers to pharmacies, who are currently fighting front-end competition and online retailers recipe, as well as generic suppliers such as HIPS & Hers (He)).
“(Consumers) want to know that (their recipe) will be there, they will not have to wait for the line and find out that it is not covered. All this is done (through Goodrx),” he said.
Barnes said that adding the possibility of buying other items in the store, such as Amazon and Walmart, is a next step and a goal for Goodrx.
