Hearn calls Canelo vs. Crawford a ‘freak fight’ – is he right?

Matchroom Honcho Eddie Hearn Tags Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford Bout “Freak Fight.” treat it as “a lot of money” When they are likely to meet in September.

Hearn said the 37-year-old Crawford doesn’t need to prove himself at 168 first as he’s just fighting for the title against WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight champion Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs) Fight for a “money” fight.

crawford jumps over the line

In other words, Crawford could jump over the line in front of a contender who has been struggling for a chance to challenge for a world title. Is it fair? No.

This is completely 100% unfair and disturbing that another 154-pounder who has moved up two weight classes has the opportunity to challenge Canelo for the title instead of being one of the contenders who deserves it.

Boxing needs specialists

As Tim Bradley says, boxing needs a commissioner to oversee the sport to set rules for Line cutting Gaining countless opportunities to challenge for the World Championship in weight classes they have never competed in.

If there was a commissioner in charge of the sport, they would not allow Crawford to advance to 168 for a world title unless he earned it by beating the top contenders in front of him.

Hearn defends ‘freak fight’

“No, because it’s a freak fight. He didn’t make it to 168 pounds in his career. This was a one-off freak fight. That’s it.” Eddie Hearn Fighthype When asked to respond to critics, they said Terence Crawford should test himself against Canelo Alvarez in one of his top middleweight bouts Canelo Alvarez won three championships at 168.

“After that fight, he’ll probably go down to 154. Don’t forget, believe he struggled on (Israil) Madrimov. He struggled because Madrimov was a Good fighter. He (Crawford) is not a big 154-pounder, don’t forget. He’s been here since 147, and he was 140 before that, and he was 135 before that.

“Move from 135 to 168 and win a unified world title. That would be one of the greatest wins ever, but you know Bud. He’s challenging. I think if he moves up and beats Canelo Alvarez at 168, that’s Will make him the best fighter of our generation.

I disagree with Hearn about Crawford not needing to fight Canelo through the 168th fight. He should win it because what’s fair with contenders like Christian Mbilli, Diego Pacheco and Caleb Factory?

See the line jumping going on. It’s hard to think of boxing as an actual sport when you see a fighter being allowed to move up two weight classes and instantly win a world title.

Crawford’s resume

“He’s a four-point champion,” Hearn said of Crawford. “He was undisputed at 140 and 147. I didn’t think he was as strong as a winner at 140. I mean, he beat everybody he had to. Errol Spence obviously won. Then, move to 154. Madrid Moff is a very good fighter. You can always question people’s resumes, but of course, Terrence is one of the greatest fighters of all time.”

Crawford’s resume at 147 and 140 was weak, as wins on the water were wins:

Errol Spence
Jose Benavidez Jr.
David Avanesyan
Jeff Horn
Sean Porter
need brooke
Amir Khan
egidijus kavaliauskas
Julius Dangundo
Felix Diaz
John Molina Jr.
Viktor Postol
Henry Lundy
Delhi Jean
Thomas Dulorme

Porter, Brooke, Khan and Spence were all on the mountain while Crawford fought them. They are nowhere near what they once were at the peak of their careers. The only one at the elite level of the group is Spence, who is not the same fighter after 2018.

That was the last year of Spence’s vintage version. Crawford had a devastating version of Spence after a car accident, two years away from the ring and weight loss.

“He (Turki al-Sheikh) has a high success rate. So you have to think the fight (Canelo vs. Crawford) has a good chance of happening. I think it’s a very interesting fight between two generational greats. I I don’t think it’s going to be easy for Bud to move up that high, but if anyone can do it, it’s probably him,” Hearn said.

Too much Canelo 168

Crawford couldn’t beat Canelo from 154 pounds to 168. This won’t happen. Crawford will be 38 in September, he is not Floyd Mayweather Jr and even if he were Floyd he would still be out of the league Canelo (Canelo) was when Mayweather fought him at 152 weight.

“His movement and IQ are second to none, but it’s hard when you face Canelo Alvarez to get there. It’s not just 168. On the night, it was probably 180, 185. It’s going to be a tough job.
