2023 Houston Open Champion Frances Tiafoe will face Alex Michelsen, the fifth seed, in the semifinals of the ATP 250 Championship on Friday (April 4).

Tiafoe played mediocre sports on the ATP Tour before this week, with six of his 12 games. World No. 17 is looking to turn wealth around at the U.S. Men’s Clay Stadium Championships, where he has won the championship game over the past two years.

After accepting the first round, the Americans beat Australia’s Adam Walton 7-5, 6-3 in just one and a half hours to book his berth in Houston’s final eight games. His quarterfinal opponent Michelsen won his first game in the Texas event and he has achieved positive results Learner Teen Earlier this week, 6-4, 6-2.

Then the 20-year-old came from a defeat of French veterans Adrian Mannarino 6-7 (0), 6-4, 6-2, in two hours and 31 minutes in the third round of the 2025 US Men’s Clay Stadium Championship.

Tiafoe’s baseline game has been overwhelmed for a while. The 27-year-old forehand has become less powerful and cannot penetrate the court. That being said, his recent weakness will not be exploited on Claycourts in Houston, meaning Michelsen will have to carefully build points to put his old man opponents in trouble.

His No. 34 world has powerful ground touches and accurate first serve. The Americans struggled hard from time to time and shot low. His performance this year was impressive, reaching 16 rounds in the semifinals of Melbourne and Dela Beach.

In this regard, Michelson’s favorable opportunity upset Houston’s second seed.
