Duke led as many as 12 in the first half, but Houston was able to cut it to six as neither team had any offense.
But the second half was the Duke. With the Blue Devils’ highest lead, Houston’s spanned seven of the eight goals.
After that, however, Houston reduced it to six minutes at 10-0, while Duke went for more than seven minutes without hitting the ball. but, Wooden Award Winner Flagg used up three-thirds of his three minutes to make it a nine-point game.

However, the Cougars were not out–in fact, they finished the game 11-1 in the final.
Houston’s Emanuel Sharp knocked out three points with 32.4 seconds left, cutting their deficit to three points. Duke then flipped the ball over and Houston got a dunk to make it a one-minute game.
Duke’s Tyrese Proctor then missed a half, and a foul on Flagg put Houston on the game. J’Wan Roberts hit both.
Duke made a lead with less than 10 seconds left after Flag missed a shot, Duke fouled and LJ Cryer knocked down two free throws to score a three-pointer. Duke missed the final blow from the buzzer, which would have sent them into overtime and sent Duke to the national championship game.
Houston scored Duke’s zero eight points in the last 33 seconds to complete his return in the wild.

Both teams shared their longest winning streak in the NCAA that competed in the game – Houston is now 18 years old, while Duke’s was stolen at 15.
Flag finished with a top 27 points, but his possible last shot in the Duke uniform would be something he wanted to forget.
Houston faces Florida’s national champion Friday night.
