M23 rebel fighters have taken control of two towns in North Kivu province.
The conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has lasted for more than 30 years.
With dozens of armed groups active in the region, millions of lives are affected.
The most prominent of these is the March 23 Movement (M23), which is widely believed to be supported by neighboring Rwanda – a charge the Rwandan government denies.
The M23 fighter jets have stepped up their offensive in recent months. They have captured two towns in recent days, believed to be just 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the North Kivu capital Goma.
So, can regional leaders broker peace to stop this conflict?
