Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recently took to Instagram Stories, sparking rumors of his retirement from Test cricket. Although his story does not have any caption and he does not mention anything, it is enough to create doubt in the minds of cricket lovers.
Jadeja recently participated in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy with the Indian team. The all-rounder did not fare well as he was overlooked in the first two Tests in Perth and Adelaide.
He was included in the squad for the third Test in Brisbane and immediately scored 77 to help India level the match. However, his numbers were reduced again in the last two Tests of the series.

Ravindra Jadeja posted a story about his Test jersey on Instagram. This jersey comes from the fifth Test match between Australia and India in Sydney, where both teams wore jerseys with pink names on them.

Jadeja didn’t make much of an impact in the game, scoring 26 and 13 points in the two games. He found it difficult on a pitch that offered a lot of ball to fast bowlers because the ball kept moving around.
Jadeja didn’t have much to do with the ball as conditions in Sydney favored seamers and it was the fast bowlers who did most of the work. He finished with 0-12 in 3 overs in the first inning but did not bowl in the second inning.
The Sydney Test, also known as the Pink Test, aims to raise awareness of breast cancer. The idea was proposed by former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath, whose wife Jane McGrath died of the same disease in 2008.
While the participating teams’ jerseys feature pink lettering, the stumps and stands during the game are also pink. The Pink Test has been held at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) since 2009.
Ravindra Jadeja at BGT 2024-25
Ravindra Jadeja did not create a great series by his standards. He performed well in the Brisbane Test match but failed to continue his form in the final two Test matches of the series in Melbourne and Sydney.
In the last three Tests of the series, he scored 135 runs at an average of 27, including 50 runs. His only half-century came at a crucial moment when his team was under pressure to avoid the aftermath. However, he formed an excellent partnership with young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy to help India out of trouble.
Jadeja also has a poor feel for the ball. Australia’s favorable conditions for tailors also worked against him. He took 4 wickets in three Tests at an average of 54.50.
Ravichandran Ashwin Pressure on Ravindra Jadeja after retirement
Jadeja is also under pressure to take a final decision on retirement as his long-time spin bowling partner Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement during the Test series against Australia.
Recently, a TOI report even claimed that Jadeja might be dropped from the Champions Trophy as head coach Gautam Gambhir insists on laying a solid foundation for the 2023 ODI World Cup. The selectors are likely to take a final decision on Jadeja’s future in the coming days.
