Israeli troops kill 2-year-old Palestinian girl in attack in occupied West Bank Israel-Palestine conflict news

Another Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli forces in a separate incident in Balata refugee camp.

Israeli troops shot and killed a two-year-old Palestinian girl as they stepped up a massive military assault in the occupied West Bank, health officials said.

Leila Khatib died of “serious injuries” on Saturday after she was shot in the head by Israeli forces in the Jenin Martyrs’ Triangle area in the northern occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement.

Media reports said the girl’s pregnant mother was also slightly injured in the attack.

The Israeli military said it was investigating the incident and opened fire on a building after receiving intelligence about the presence of Palestinian militants.

In recent years, the Israeli military has carried out multiple attacks and the invasion of Jenin, long regarded as Symbol of the Palestinian Resistance. Its latest operation began a day after a ceasefire came into effect in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has killed more than 47,000 Palestinians in some 15 months of attacks.

Ahmad Mahmoud Hashash, 42, was also killed by Israel in Saturday’s attack on the Balata refugee camp in the central West Bank, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on Saturday. The army shot and killed.

The ongoing military operation in Jenin and its neighboring refugee camps has killed at least 14 Palestinians, according to the Health Ministry. Dozens injured, thousands wounded forced to leave home.

Before Israel’s latest attack began on Monday, Palestinian Authority security forces, which exercise limited autonomy in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, conducted a weeks-long operation to regain control of Jenin.

In addition to casualties, Israeli army attacks caused widespread damage, including bulldozing major roads and demolishing homes.

A group of former Israeli soldiers have broken their silence calling for an end to Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, saying last week that Jenin faced a “Gazaization” by Israeli forces “including airstrikes” and the destruction of infrastructure. .

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the operation was aimed at eliminating “terrorism”.
