Palestinians in Gaza are facing apocalyptic landscape The ceasefire halted Israeli attacks on the besieged enclave for more than 15 months, causing severe damage.

A United Nations assessment of satellite images shows that as of December 1, 2024, more than 60,000 buildings have been destroyed and more than 20,000 buildings have been severely damaged across Gaza.

Israel has also established buffer zones about a kilometer inside the Gaza fence, as well as within the Nezarim corridor that bisects northern Gaza, and along the Philadelphi corridor, a stretch of land along Gaza’s border with Egypt.

Large tracts of land in these areas were razed to the ground.
