Striker Alexander Isak is likely to be fit for Newcastle’s home game with Wolves tomorrow night.
The Sweden international missed Sunday’s FA Cup win against Bromley after picking up a minor hamstring problem in last week’s 2-0 EFL Cup win at Arsenal.
Issac has scored in seven consecutive Premier League games, helping Newcastle to fifth in the table, and head coach Eddie Howe is confident he will have his star man available.
Howe said: “He’ll be desperate to play of course. That (goalscoring) run I don’t focus too much on and I’m not interested in it, but I understand that guys will care deeply about him and I’d love Alex to keep scoring. I think the most important thing for me is that the team is working well for him and he is working well for the team.
“He will be there or around. We haven’t seen it on the train yet, but fingers crossed it will be (available). Of course, we need to be careful, but that’s why I did what I did against Arsenal, to try to save it and make sure we don’t lose it. He is a very valuable player for us. Fingers crossed, he’ll be fine and he’ll take his place in the team.
Eddie Howe on Alexander Issac:

The main trio is also likely to feature
Sven Boatman, Jacob Murphy and Joe Willock are also likely to return.
“We’ll have a look at them again today,” Howe added. “They were left out (against Bromley) for the right reasons, all different things, but we hope nothing major. So little problems that we needed to settle. Fingers crossed they will be there or will be there.”
Barnes blow
There was less positive news on winger Harvey Barnes, who is expected to miss around four weeks after damaging a thigh muscle against the League Two side.
“Harvey will be missing for some time,” Howe said. “We don’t think it’s a serious injury, but it will be enough to keep him out for a couple of weeks. I think we’re probably looking at around a month. Don’t hold me to it, but that’s a preliminary assessment.
“It has been scanned. Like I said, it’s not too bad, but it will be enough to keep it out. It’s an injury in his thigh, in his thigh muscle. He did it by crossing a ball late in the first half. He thought he could go on until half-time, but then at half-time it became clear that he couldn’t come out for the second half.
