Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella was dissatisfied with every aspect of his team’s performance. On 19-20-6, they still have some things to clean up. One aspect involves a power struggle, one that the head coach has made no secret of.

Tortorella was asked before Thursday’s game about his team’s troubles getting in and out of power plays this year. He responded (2:50) detailing the circumstances in which this occurred.

“That’s a big part,” the coach said. “I just showed you a clip. When we don’t score on the power play or we’re up two to one, we score and I have Couturier, Lawton and Traus Konec Nick came in, well, that was good. “After the extended shift, we got TK, Laughts and Coots on the ice.

“That’s what pissed me off the most about the last game, was the transition after our power play, when we didn’t score, we didn’t do a good job and we started thinking too much about the offense and we gave it to them Two-on-one chances and they ended up in our net.”

Tortorella said these were “huge shifts” in the game, especially when they occurred with less than five minutes remaining. The Flyers ultimately lost their last game 3-2 in a penalty shootout. columbus bluejackets.

John Tortorella goes into fiery rant in defense of players

John Tortorella doesn’t hide his emotions from anyone, especially members of the media. They’ll know exactly how he feels about a particular topic. As for Rasmus Ristolainen, Tortorella said earlier this week (via Newsweek ):

“You (the media) hate him. Write this shit. I shouldn’t say hate. That’s not an appropriate word in today’s world. I just feel like he’s been under a microscope since I’ve been here.”
