President Biden’s recent statements The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was now “the law of the land,” prompting derision in his final days in office. Biden wasn’t even immune to insults from Vice President-elect Vance.
Vance responded to Biden’s statement in a post on X, joking that Biden should replace the late, disgraced MLB icon Pete Ross in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
“Hey Joe, if we fake out on the outs, can you declare Pete Rose a Hall of Famer?” Vance wrote. “See you in two days!”
Rose, who died in September, was banned for life by Major League Baseball for illegally betting on games.

rose banned In 1989, an investigation concluded that he not only gambled on Major League Baseball (MLB) games, but even placed bets on games involving the Cincinnati Reds while he was coaching the team.
Ross signed an agreement with Commissioner Bart Giamatti that declared him permanently ineligible for baseball but allowed him to apply for reinstatement and avoid officially declaring that he was betting on baseball. Ross has repeatedly called for reinstatement over the past few decades, but has failed.
As a player, Rose won three World Series, two with the Reds and one with the Phillies, while appearing in 17 All-Star games and winning the NL MVP in 1973. As we all know, he still holds the record for most hits in MLB history (4,256).
However, his gambling scandal has made him one of the most controversial Baseball Hall of Famers since his retirement. His absence from the Hall of Fame is one of the most hotly debated controversies in the sport.
So Vance pulled no punches in mocking the outgoing president by referencing Rose’s famous Hall of Fame controversy.
In his statement, Biden cited the American Bar Association as saying the ERA had “cleared all necessary hurdles to be formally incorporated into the Constitution.” Biden added He agreed with “the American Bar Association and leading constitutional scholars that the Equal Rights Amendment has become part of our Constitution.” However, despite Biden’s defense, the National Archives disagrees.

The ERA is a proposed constitutional amendment that would guarantee “equality before the law” to all Americans regardless of gender. Its latest version is New York Democrats’ quick reaction to the June 2022 Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
