The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired head coach Doug Pederson after finishing the 2024 NFL season with a 4-13 record.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Monday that the Jaguars have moved on from Pederson after three seasons.

The news comes on the first day after the regular season ends, when many teams around the league typically make coaching changes. He became the second coach to be fired after Week 18, with the New England Patriots firing Jerrold Mayo on Sunday night after just one season.

Pederson left with a 22-29 record after being named Jaguars head coach before the 2022 season, during which time he led the team to the conference playoffs.

Since then, Jacksonville has failed to build on its early momentum under Pederson, missing the playoffs in 2023 and 2024.

Team owner Shad Khan said in a statement: “Doug is an outstanding football player and will undoubtedly begin the next chapter of his impressive NFL career. “When that time comes, I will support Doug and his wife Jenny.”

Lawrence, meanwhile, threw for just 2,045 yards and 11 touchdowns with seven interceptions in a game that was interrupted first by a shoulder injury and then by a concussion.

Pederson made the playoffs in three of his five previous seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, notably winning Super Bowl 52 over the New England Patriots.
