The Medical Team of the Cricket Control Council of India (BCCI) has returned the ace pacemaker Jasprit Bumrah to the IPL 2025 season. Star Indian and Mumbai Indian Bowler was initially expected to be ready by early April, but he is unlikely to make a comeback due to concerns about a back injury.
Bumrah was injured in his fifth test against Australia in Sydney in January. The 31-year-old pacemaker was ruled out of the 2025 championship trophy, with India winning earlier this month. The Indian team’s spinners dominate the spin-friendly stadium in Dubai.
Jasprit Bumrah’s injury is even worse – Report
Jasprit Bumrah’s injury seemed to be worse than expected. He has started bowling in the Nets, but has not reached full intensity yet. “Bumla’s injury is going to be serious.
Jasprit Bumrah has been acting since BGT’s fifth test
Jasprit Bumrah suffered a lower back injury in his fifth test against Australia in Sydney in January. He left the field in the first inning and did not return to the bowl as India suffered an eight-goal defeat.
BCCI and chief selector Ajit Agarkar were optimistic about his recovery from the championship trophy in time, but he was left out. India replaced him with Harshit Rana in the Champions League trophy lineup and ODI series.
The pacemaker is not in its best condition yet to return to competitive cricket. Former New Zealand pacemaker and Mumbai Indian bowling coach Shane Bond recently warned that Bumrah’s back was on the verge of a stress fracture. Given his historical injuries, early rewards may affect his professional longevity.
Mumbai Indian coach Mahela Jayawarene absent in Jasprit Bumrah
In a press conference on March 19, Mumbai Indian coach Mahela Jayawardene admitted that Jasprit Bumrah’s absence was a major setback.
“He has to wait and see what their feedback is. At the moment, everything is going well, but obviously, it’s everyday progress, progress. He’s excited and hopefully he can join the team as soon as possible.”
Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar opened bowling for the team. The Mumbai Indians struggled at the beginning, losing their first two matches before winning their first victory against the Kolkata Knight rider. Next, they will face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 4.
