How did England perform in the last T20I against India?
England had a disappointing performance against India in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, losing by a huge margin of 68 runs. England’s batting line-up, chasing a target of 172 runs, struggled against the Indian bowlers and managed only 103 runs in 16.4 overs before being bundled out.
England’s chase got off to a rocky start as they lost wickets early on. Captain Jos Buttler (23 off 15 balls) and Phil Salt (5 off 8 balls) were dismissed cheaply, followed by a series of quick wickets. Jonny Bairstow (0), Moeen Ali (8) and Sam Curran (2) all fell before England could build momentum. Harry Brooke Became the leading scorer with 25 points, but even he couldn’t provide the necessary acceleration.
The turning point came in India’s incredible bowling, courtesy of Axar Patelhe took only 3 crucial wickets and scored only 23 runs. Kuldeep Yadav also made a significant contribution in 3/19, while Jasprit Bumrah2/12 added more pressure on the English batsmen. England batsmen struggled on the Guyana pitches, conceding wickets frequently.
Ultimately, Jofra Archer (21 off 15 balls) tried to do his best by breaking some boundaries but it was not enough to win. India bowlers kept the intensity high as England’s batting collapsed under pressure to lose in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
