The previous one Manchester United Chelsea owner Jose Mourinho may take over the national team in Brazil, according to reports. Given that the current Fenerbahce boss is not on an international mission, this is a pretty interesting development.

This statement comes from Globo, who said the Brazilian Federation is also considering Carlo Ancelotti, Jorge Jesus and Abel Ferreira in the roles. Currently, the Portuguese tactician has reached an agreement with his current party, which continues until the summer of 2026.

If he is going to join Brazil, it will ideally have to be done this summer, which gives Mourinho plenty of time to prepare 2026 FIFA World Cup. After the 62-year-old left Rome in 2024, former Chelsea star Steve Sidwell supported Mourinho to manage an international team and said (via Sportbilbe) that:

“As a manager of a country, there is a lot of discussion about the role of a national coach. I think he still has hunger and passion, a desire for more trophys. He is a natural winner, but I can see him immersed in the national management.”

He added:

“I think the daily thing is for him, and that’s where he’s still alive in the meeting. The clipboard comes out and it’s always pleasant. Hungry, craving, burning, he’s going to do it one day, and I’m sure he has a quote. I’m sure he might try something new and he’s not young, so I think he can go in that direction.”

Mourinho is Chelsea’s three-time Premier League champion. He managed to lift the Champions League trophy with Porto Inter Milan Once each.

Fenerbahce owner Jose Mourinho grabbed the three-game ban after his team beat the team 2-1 in the Turkish Cup. The incident happened on Wednesday, April 2, when the Portuguese coach’s team lost 2-1 to Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

Both managers interacted with officials after the game conclusion, when Mourinho appeared from behind and grabbed the nose of the coach opposite him. As a result, he is now fined 292,500 TL and granted a three-game ban on his actions.

Given that the title battle is in the late stages of the season, this could be a crucial miss for Fenerbahce. They are in the super assist rankings, with leader Galatasaray’s leader three points.
